Gift of Sight Trust Golf Day 1 September 2017

You can give the #GiftofSight

Did you know that 4 out of 5, or 80%, of the world's blind, are avoidable so?

Avoidable blindness is defined as blindness which could be either treated or prevented by known, cost-effective means. Although there are many other causes of vision impairment, the Gift of Sight Trust seeks to address the main causes of avoidable blindness, in order to have the greatest possible impact on vision loss in South Africa.

We can only achieve our goals with your help.

If you are a private individual or a company, there are many ways to support the work of the Gift of Sight Trust. Without your sponsorship, gifts and donations, we would not be able to extend the hand of opportunity and work together to eliminate avoidable blindness.

The Gift of Sight Trust is a registered entity and all funds donated are audited by the registered auditor.

How can you give the #GiftofSight?
  1. Book a Fourball for the Charity Golf Day at R3,000
  2. Sponsor a hole for R3,000 and earn the right to offer food or beverage at the hole
  3. Brand the Halfway House, Registration Table or Dinner Function for R3,000
  4. Donate a Prize to the Fourball winners
  5. Donate items or vouchers to be auctioned
  6. Make a Donation of your own value
  7. Sponsor Goodie Bags to be distributed to players before the start of the game
  8. Provide Entertainment for the Charity Golf Day
  9. Be an MC at the Charity Golf Day

Dr Johann Krüger

For the past 12 years, Dr Johann Krüger of the Tygervalley Eye & Laser Centre , offers his services free to perform Cataract Operations to those who need it most, but are unable to afford it, as part of the October #RighttoSight Eye Care Awareness Week.
Some of these patients have been on waiting lists for cataract surgery at state hospitals for years. The Khangella Eye Theatre at The Tygervalley Eye & Laser Centre offers its theatre facilities free of charge and several pharmaceutical companies make this possible by donating intraocular lenses, eye drop medication and other materials used during the procedure.

Mickelson and Mackay split ways after 25 years

“After 25 very rewarding and memorable years, Bones and I have mutually decided to end our player-caddie relationship,” Mickelson said in a statement. “Our decision is not based on a single incident. We just feel it’s the right time for a change.”

Mackay was on Mickelson’s bag for all 41 of the lefthander’s professional victories, and his unwavering dedication is such that it made news when a stomach ailment knocked him out of action for most of one round at the World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship earlier this season. Tim Mickelson, Phil’s younger brother, took the bag that day.

Tim Mickelson will caddie for Phil for the rest of this season, Mickelson’s statement said.

Caddie Mackay also released a statement.

“After an amazing 25-year run, Phil and I have mutually decided to go our separate ways,” said Mackay, who had been somewhat hobbled this year as he recovers from a double knee replacement. “Player-caddie relationships don’t often last that long. I will always be grateful that I was around to witness so much of Phil’s career.

“When Phil hired me in 1992, I had one dream: to caddie in a Ryder Cup. Last year, at Hazeltine, Phil played in his 11th straight Ryder Cup. It was so cool to have a front-row seat. I wish Phil nothing but the best. His game is still at an elite level, and when he wins in the future (definitely the Masters), I will be among the first to congratulate him.”
